What is capacity market?
The Polish Capacity Market pays generators for the generating capacity they promise to make available. The generator will receive a payment for promising to continue to operate the power plant for a specified term in the future, separate and in addition to the payment for electricity generated.
Which units can participate?
Power generation units with a minimum installed capacity of 2 MW from Czechia, Germany, Sweden, Slovakia and Lithuania which are connected to the distribution or transmission network. Only units that do not receive any kind of public subsidy or state aid support can participate in the auctions. Thermal units exceeding emission limit of 550 kg CO2/MW are not eligible for auction participation.
